As an Environmental Engineer at Cornerstone Building Brands, you’ll work closely with project teams and plant personnel to oversee air, wastewater, stormwater, hazardous waste, spill prevention, and emergency response regulatory activities. Collaborate and Innovate with Industry Leaders

By preparing and maintaining environmental permit applications, including renewals, you’ll ensure our operations meet stringent regulatory requirements. Your role will be vital in preparing state and EPA regulatory submittals, keeping our facilities compliant and ahead of the curve.
Drive Sustainability Through Data-Driven Insights
Your analytical skills will shine as you manage and analyze enterprise environmental ESG systems and data metrics. This data is crucial for both internal use and external reporting, providing valuable insights into our sustainability efforts. By leading internal facility compliance audits, you’ll measure conformance to CBB policies and identify corrective actions, ensuring continuous improvement in our environmental practices.
Be the Expert in Environmental Compliance
As a subject matter expert, you’ll guide plants through environmental incident investigations, helping to identify root causes and implement effective corrective actions. Your expertise will be invaluable during interactions with regulatory agencies, ensuring smooth inspections and effective responses to non-compliance events. You’ll also manage projects and tasks of contracted environmental consulting firms, ensuring they align with our high standards.
Empower and Educate
Your role extends beyond compliance; you’ll coordinate environmental training programs to meet plant needs and mentor EHS professionals on environmental matters. By staying abreast of newly promulgated state and federal environmental regulations, you’ll ensure our manufacturing operations remain at the forefront of industry standards. Your ability to communicate effectively and work with diverse teams will be key to your success.
Qualifications and Skills
To excel in this role, you’ll need an Engineering or Bachelor of Science degree in environmental studies from an accredited university, along with a minimum of 10 years of manufacturing or environmental compliance consulting experience. Your hands-on experience with air quality rules, NPDES/stormwater permitting, and RCRA/DOT/SPCC/EPCRA rules will set you apart. Proficiency with Excel and large data files is essential, as is your ability to travel overnight 30-50 percent.
